Art and Fashion Exhibition at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg
The Fashion Show collection, Autumn/winter 2007-2008
As I am thinking about and preparing for graduate studies, I am increasingly aware of the growing discourse around Art and Fashion.

Desiring to locate myself between Art and Fashion, and not in one or the other, has proven very difficult.  No programs seem to nurture the balance between the 2 disciplines.  I would like to pursue a studio practice incorporating research, writing, and curation in tandem with artmaking and design.

As I tend to collect random bits of data, links, etc., I will try to post them all here, in this blog.  Up to this point, I have been posting them to Facebook, but have found that to be less useful in terms of reference.

In this photo, while it's the exhibition cover for Art and Fashion, I see a strange similarity in shape to this painting I recently did:

While I am always looking for that meeting point where my work meets fashion, I think this is a delightful similarity and opens ideas for translation of shape and form.  I think I will collage these recent works onto the body.

Speaking of body, I am participating in a show called SEXIER at Zhou B Art Center on March 11.  In the show, I am exhibiting a piece constructed out of my paintings, torn into strips and sewn together, then crocheted into a large experimental garment.  Alexandria Eregbu  and Hannah Rodriguez will be performing with the piece.
